OUTDOOR BLINDS NEWCASTLE

Outdoor Blinds for Newcastle's Coastal Wind and Salt Air

Newcastle's outdoor areas take a beating from coastal wind and salt spray more than most, with humid summers on top of that. We build every outdoor blind in our own South Australian factory and install them across Newcastle — mesh, manual or motorised — sized to the patio or deck it is going on.

What Our Newcastle Outdoor Blinds Are Built to Do

Not all outdoor blinds hold up the same way near the coast. Ours are built to:

  • Block the sun’s UV and keep heat from building up through summer, then cut the wind to take the edge off a cold, exposed area in winter — so the space stays usable most of the year.
  • Offer protection against extreme weather, so your outdoor area stays comfortable and usable when the weather turns.
  • Give you privacy from a neighbouring deck or a street-facing patio, without closing the view in.
  • Take salt air and coastal wind without the fabric or fittings giving out early.
  • Come in 28 mesh colours, so a blind on a brick Hamilton terrace and one on a modern deck can both look right.

Our Outdoor Blind Colour Palette

Every outdoor blind we make is finished in a colour you choose from the Outlook Mode mesh range.

How much do outdoor blinds cost in Newcastle?

Outdoor blinds in Newcastle typically run $200 to $1,200 per blind depending on size, fabric and control type, and we will beat or match any genuine quote for the same product with the same dimensions and specifications.

How much sun and heat do outdoor blinds block?

PVC-coated polyester mesh blocks and reflects up to 95% of solar energy while still letting air move through, good for a patio you want shaded but not sealed off in summer. Newcastle deals with strong coastal winds, salt spray and humid summers, which makes getting the fabric and the fit right a practical decision rather than just a look.

Will they hold up in a coastal blow?

Mesh filters wind and cuts glare rather than sealing a space, so expect some rain to pass through the weave in a driving coastal blow. Track-guided systems, with the fabric running in side channels, perform best once the wind is up.

Is salt spray going to wear them out faster?

Regular rinsing is what actually protects them — it's the build-up of salt residue rather than the sea air itself that causes long-term wear. Our team, working out of Wyong, can advise on upkeep for how exposed your property is.

Are your outdoor blinds UV resistant?

Our mesh is UV treated, Microban antimicrobial treated, fire retardant rated to AS 1530.2 and AS/NZS 1530.3, and Greenguard certified as a low chemical emitting product — not just a generic weave off the shelf.

What can outdoor blinds be mounted to?

We mount to timber, steel, aluminium, brick or concrete, custom-made to fit almost any opening — patios, decks and alfresco areas are where most of our installs happen.

Can you make outdoor blinds for a very wide or unusual opening?

Blinds are custom-made to your exact opening rather than built to a standard size, so there's no fixed maximum width or drop to plan around. An unusual shape or a particularly wide span on a deck or verandah just means a more careful measure, not a problem.

How do I clean outdoor blinds in a coastal area?

Salt spray builds up faster on the coast than it does further inland, so we'd suggest hosing blinds down every two to three months rather than waiting until they look dirty — lower fully, rinse off residue, and for tougher marks use a soft cloth with mild detergent in warm water, working top to bottom. Skip abrasive cleaners or a pressure washer, and let the blind dry fully before rolling it back up so mould doesn't get a start in the rolled section.

How does the measure, quote and installation process work?

Getting a quote is simple: a free in-home measure, a firm price before anything's ordered, and installation once the blind's ready. The same Wyong-based team handles the whole job.

Do I need council approval for outdoor blinds in Newcastle?

Outdoor blinds fitted to an existing patio, pergola or verandah generally don't need council approval, though this can vary by council and by whether a property is heritage-listed — worth checking if you're unsure.
